Replacements celebrates annual Bring Your Pet to Work Day
GREENSBORO, N.C., October 4, 2007 - Steve Hyatt doesn’t have to worry about leaving his beloved dogs Duchess and Charlie home alone when
it’s time to go to work. They come to the office every day with wagging tails and doggie grins. “When you have pets that stay home, you just can’t
develop the same bond as having them with you all the time,” says Hyatt. “Having them here around people and other pets has made them so much more sociable, it’s
really allowed us to build a very special relationship. I can’t imagine coming to work without them.”
Well behaved pets are welcome to work or shop at Replacements, Ltd. every day. While dozens of associates like Hyatt take advantage of the company’s widely recognized pet friendly policies, others aren’t able to bring their animal friends on a regular basis. That’s why today many furry, feathered and scaly companions will punch in at Replacements’ annual Bring Your Pet to Work Day celebration, a time set aside to honor these beloved family members.
Replacements has received national and international attention since opening its doors to pets 11 years ago, long before many other companies even considered what these days is becoming a more popular trend. Recent surveys show having the option of bringing their pets to work is an important job perk for many Americans, while further feedback indicates having animals in the workplace makes for a more relaxed and productive working environment. Company founder and CEO Bob Page launched Replacements’ policy when he started bringing his own dog to the office.
"I have found bringing your dog to work with you can be soothing and relaxing and I just didn’t think it was fair my employees had to leave their pets at home, so I encourage them to do the same," said Page. “From an employer’s perspective, anytime you have an employee that is content, I think they’re more productive in general.”
Julia Terry’s seven year old boxer Katie has been coming to work since she was just a pup. “When Katie does something bad, I punish her by making her stay home,” says Terry. “She gets really hurt and mopes around because she loves being here so much, Katie knows who around the building has treats and exactly where to go to get a snack.”
Sofar not a single pet has broken a piece of china or crystal, unlike their human companions. Employees and customers have brought in dogs, cats, rabbits and even a duck. To find out more about Replacements’ associates and their pets, visit http://www.replacements.com/mfghist/pets01.htm.
