Press Releases
Replacements, Ltd. welcomes world renowned Waterford Crystal
Artisan
GREENSBORO, N.C., April 6, 2007 – From
intricate vases to PGA golf trophies to the Waterford Crystal Ball dropped New
Year’s
Eve in Times Square, one can see Tom Power’s mark all
over the crystal world. Now you have the chance to watch this Master Cutter
in action coming up Thursday, May 3, at Replacements, Ltd.
Power began his career with Waterford Crystal as an apprentice
Wedge Cutter nearly 38 years ago. Wedge cutting is most often used for the more
intricate designs cut into Waterford crystal. Deeper wedge cuts result in prisms
that scatter light and increase intense reflection; most are made using a single
uninterrupted motion of the hand. A Master Wedge Cutter uses his intuition and
sight to determine the depth and exact location of these eye catching cuts. Power
currently works in Waterford’s ‘Special
Department’ where
he is responsible for creating many one-of-a-kind pieces destined to grace the
display cabinet of many high achievers in the sports, politics and business fields.
Power will demonstrate his craft, meet customers and sign Waterford pieces from
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 3. Replacements, Ltd. is located at 1089 Knox Road,
McLeansville, NC.
